THE Chairman of Cwmbran Community Council has raised over £600 for his chosen charity recently at a dinner held to celebrate Cwmbran and its Communities.
Chairman of the council, cllr Steve Evans said: “Each year, the council holds a dinner to celebrate the contribution made to Cwmbran life by so many organisations and individuals.
"Organisations such as the Police and Fire Service joined civic leaders, voluntary organisations, church leaders and other invited guests for a wonderful evening at the Greenmeadow Golf Club.
“I am delighted to report that voluntary donations and a raffle held at the event raised £613 for my chosen charity SSAFA."
The SSAFA provide support for members of the armed forces and their families.
"I am especially pleased to support their work as we remember the centenary of World War One", he added.
" I would like to thank everyone who donated or took part in the raffle. I am also especially grateful to the organisations who donated some marvellous prizes.”
The event culminated in a special presentation to Paul Murphy MP to acknowledge his contribution to Cwmbran as MP for Torfaen since 1987.
