A DISABLED man from Abergavenny has been given the chance to attend the sports he loves after being presented with a new mobility scooter.
Stuart Davies, 72, was awarded the Eclipse scooter by TGA Mobility and Event Mobility after winning the company’s free prize draw at the Badminton Horse Trials.
A passionate follower of rugby and cricket, Mr Davies was unable to attend matches due to having restricted mobility and walking difficulties. He had attended the trials, where he is a season ticket holder, on a loaned scooter and ended up with the compact Eclipse.
Mr Davies, who lives with wife Sian in Llanvihangel Crucorney, said: “I am absolutely thrilled and delighted. It will make a huge difference to my life.
“I have been attending Badminton for more than twenty years, in the early days I was able to walk the course, unfortunately my spinal problems mean my mobility is severely restricted and I am able to walk only a couple of yards with two sticks and it takes a huge effort.
“I am doing my utmost to stay out of a wheelchair for as long as possible.”
Event Mobility are a charity who provide mobility scooters for hire at events.
