WE have to hand it to all those involved in the organisation of the weekend’s food festival in Newport.

What a fantastic event yet again - and what a crowd puller.

The Tiny Rebel Newport Food and Drink Festival creates a great buzz around the whole of the city centre.

It is a real draw and now a permanent fixture in the city’s calendar of events and one which we strongly believe can only get bigger and better.

We know so many people are involved in pulling together the many different strands of a festival which includes competitions, talks and demonstrations as well as the dozens of stalls showcasing local produce which set up in the city centre.

So it is great to see so many people attending. Saturday wasn’t the best weather-wise but the streets were still packed with shoppers and visitors.

And surely attracting this many people into the city centre must benefit other businesses large and small who trade in the city centre day in and day out.

We are great supporters of the local businesses in Newport and know some of them have had a tough time of late.

But events like this, which we can all support, all help to make our city centre successful.

And if that happens then all of us who live and work here feel the benefits.

Well done all.
