FOUR new homes will be built in Llantilio Crossenny on former church-owned land, in an effort to provide more affordable housing in the area.
The affordable homes, comprising three two-bedroom houses and one three-bedroom property, will be built by Capsel and will be available to rent through the housing association (MHA).
Funded by the Welsh government, the project to build new affordable homes in Llantilio Crossenny commenced in 2005 when the rural housing enabler for Monmouthshire started working with the local community council to identify land for affordable housing.
David James, the rural housing enabler for Monmouthshire, said: "The community council has always been adamant about the need for affordable housing in Llantilio Crossenny, following a housing needs survey which was completed in 2006, and this was reinforced at the resident consultation event held in January 2018.
“These new homes marks the first steps in addressing this need and we would like to acknowledge the pivotal role the Church in Wales has played in selling us the land, which has enabled this to happen.”
