A NUMBER of Cwmbran residents have reported receiving scam phone calls
On answering the call there is a pause before an automated message states that tax fraud had been recorded under the recipient's name and to press '1' to speak to an operator.
The aim is to obtain personal information to commit fraud.

A Gwent Police spokesman said: "If you receive this message it is a scam, do not give out your personal information
"Terminate the call and notify Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 or via email contact@actionfraud.police.uk."
