A 56-YEAR-OLD woman has died in a house fire today (Thursday) in Deepweir, Caldicot.
Her body was found inside the "partially collapsed" house after firefighters had put out the blaze, Gwent Police and South Wales Fire and Rescue Service confirmed.
Her family has been notified and is being supported by specialist officers.
The emergency services said they had arrived to confront a "well-developed fire" at the two-storey detached home when they were called out at 12.35pm today.
The fire was brought under control, but emergency services remain on the scene following a partial collapse of the house in Deepweir, Caldicot.
"Work continues to ensure the area is made safe and a fire investigation will now take place to determine the cause of the fire," the emergency services' statement read.
All roads have now been re-opened around the area.
