WINDING the clock back more than 100 years - on 19 April 1912, this dramatic accident at the bottom of Monnow Street Monmouth, just outside the Robin Hood Inn, was captured on camera.

The traction engine had fallen through the weighbridge located in the street.

It was on its way from Devon to Llandenny with three van loads of furniture.

Fortunately the driver, Charles Charles, and the steerer, John Wilkinson, both from Weston-super-Mare, were unhurt.

The engine was raised with the help of the Council steam-roller and was actually able to continue its journey.
