THOUSANDS of pounds worth of tech, including a 65” 4K TV, will be hidden in Abergavenny this week – as an online retailer celebrates its 25th anniversary.

Two boxes packed with TVs, laptops, gaming equipment, monitors and computer components will be placed in the Abergavenny area on Thursday (September 23) – and the first person to find each box will win the contents.

The giveaway is part of a campaign by leading tech retailer Box, which is marking a quarter of century in business by visiting four towns or cities throughout September with prize boxes.

Box will reveal the precise location of the prize boxes by gradually unveiling the postcode on social media.

The first three digits of the location of the first two prize boxes – NP7 – have now been revealed on social media. The postcode covers Abergavenny and the surrounding villages.

Mark Jordan, Box CEO, said: “We’re very proud to be celebrating our 25th anniversary this year – and we couldn’t let the milestone pass without shouting about it.

“The Box Hunt is a really exciting event, giving people the chance to get their hands on amazing prizes.

“Having been in business for a quarter of a century, we have amazing relationships with the manufacturers we work alongside and they’ve stepped forward by donating some of the most sought-after items in the tech world.

“It’s a really simple premise – find it, grab it, win it. Each box will contain a list of all the prizes won, so you’re not necessarily looking for a huge box.

“We have already visited York, Birmingham and Portsmouth this month and thought we would take the competition across the border to the beautiful country of Wales. There’s going to be a real buzz in the area, that’s for sure.”

Two boxes are being hidden in each chosen town or city, with NP7 the final destination in 2021. On September 30 there will be a separate competition on Box’s website with more top prizes up for grabs. The total prize fund is in the region of £35,000.

Some of the manufacturers involved in the campaign include EPOS, Cooler Master, Seagate, Hisense and Philips.

The clues will be revealed on Box’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram channels.

Box, which has its offices in Birmingham, sells an extensive range of technology and computing products, including laptops, desktop PCs, phones and tablets, components, monitors and printers.

The business was founded by Mark Jordan in 1996 and today is the UK’s leading technology e-commerce business, employing more than 100 people.
