THE health board is still warning of a busier than usual emergency unit at University Hospital Wales.

Cardiff and Vale Health Board issued the warning at just before 10am this morning, April 29, with no update as yet that pressures on the service are easing.

If you’re in urgent need of assistance, advice is to call 111, or the Minor Injuries Unit at Barry Hospital.

A spokesperson for CVUHB said: “The emergency unit at UHW is incredibly busy which is leading to long waits in the department.

“We are urging the public to only attend the unit in an emergency.

“You can visit the NHS 111 Wales website to check your symptoms and get advice and guidance on your healthcare needs.

“If your condition is urgent, but not life-threatening, you can call 111, out-of-hours, and the Minor Injuries Unit at Barry Hospital.

“Your Primary Care team in the community could also support.

“Each member of the primary care team has skills and expertise in different areas, enabling you to get the right support, from the right healthcare professional, first time.

“We thank you for your ongoing support and cooperation during this challenging time.”
