TALYWAIN travelled to Woodland Road to play Croesyceiliog and came away with an impressive victory on the weekend.
The 16-9 scoreline saw two tries from Ashley Bayliss and Kirk Needs, with Adam Williams adding two penalties, to see the Pontypool side home.
The game itself was exciting to watch in the first half, with some end to end play, and both sides exchanging points, writes Laura Driscoll
However you could clearly see Talywain was starting to get a grip on the game dictating play through some good back and forward play.
The Talywain pack took control of the scrum taking a few balls against the head. But Croesyceiliog cleverly began to opt for passive scrums, disrupting the game plan of Talywain and putting Croesyceilog on a level playing field.
It wasn't enough to stop Talywain going on to claim the points on the day though, temporararily placing them third in League Two East.
Captain Jamie Willmott said afterwards that he was "absolutely delighted" with how the team have played over the past few weeks.
The turnout at Croesyceiliog was impressive for both teams for a Wednesday evening.
A club spokesperson said: "It was just the spirit and atmosphere needed to show support for all players involved."
Talywain will travel to Llanhilleth on Friday (March 20) to compete in the Ben Francis Cup competition.
