ACROBATIC and tumbling gymnasts from Wye Gymnastics Club in Caldicot travelled to Deeside for the 2013 Welsh NDP championships.
First up on Saturday were the Prep B pair of Megan Burke and Lara Birkett.
Competing for the first time, the eight-year-olds performed beautifully.
Next to compete were the grade 2 women’s pair, Shannon Drew and Nancy Hefferan.
Their floor went without any major flaws, finishing a commendable sixth.
Grade 1 were next to perform where the club had two partnerships. The trio of Sophie Warnock, Jessica Hawke and Holly Ullathorne competed in one of the biggest groups.
The girls looked great on the floor enjoying their routine and smiling all the way through, just missing out on a medal position.
Ioan Edwards and Dylan Duffield competed in the men’s pairs section and had the judges smiling through their spoof James Bond themed routine.
Their imaginative dance saw them take gold and the championship title and they go onto to represent Wales in the AcrobaticNDPchampionships in May.
Sunday saw the tumbling competition, where ten gymnasts competed.
All performed exceptionally well which showed in the results.
Sophie Warnock, competing on an injured wrist, completed all of her runs and finished tenth.
Dylan Duffield just missed taking home another medal when he finished fourth.
Billie-Jayne Corbett scooped the bronze medal.
Lloyd Howells, Nancy Heffarnan and Elijah Carrol all upped their game for this event and took home silver.
Talita Jones, Dylan Howells, Ioan Edwards and Emily Howells all looked fantastic on the track and took gold medal and the championships title.
