Division One (Second XIs)
Chepstow 2nds (252-9) beat Pentyrch 2nds (198-8) by 54 runs
ZAK Watson struck a fine century to give Chepstow 2nds yet another victory at Mathern Road on Saturday.
Watson, batting at number three, drew praise from his skipper Jon Huws for his 108-run contribution.
“Zak’s excellent century was the main factor in our win,” Huws said later,
“He batted superbly in our innings, playing sensibly to get to 50 before racing from there to 100.
“We weren't on top form with the ball and were perhaps a bowler light, but managed to take eight wickets as Pentyrch made 198.”
Tuhin Gavand claimed 3-37 with Huws (4-47) and Lewys Jones (1-27) accounting for the wickets
Now Huws is hoping that, despite losing some players to football and rugby, his title-winning team can finish the season unbeaten.
“We'll try our best but we will lose a few to football and rugby over the next couple of weeks. It will be difficult but we'll try our best,” he added.
