South Wales Women & Girls League
Alun Evans Cup Round 1
Goytre LFC 0 Severn Tunnel LFC 13
SEVERN Tunnel Ladies enjoyed a goal feast as they earned a place in round two with an easy victory at Goytre, writes Bob Cypher.
Four goals by Mikaela Roberts and Shauna Pentney paved the way, with Taran Fitzgerald (3), Nat Rostron and Chloe Leonard adding the others.
Tunnel manager Sian Elizabeth Rees said she was pleased with the way her squad performed.
“Our passing, formation, control and possession are all improving and they all battled and did themselves and their club proud,” she said later.
“There were some outstanding performances and great goals, and Bethan Gammon was outstanding throughout.
“Our goalkeeper Chloe Leonard played in the first half but as we had another keeper, Jenny Gattrell, in the squad, I was able to switch Chloe to play upfront - where she scored her goal - and give Jenny the second half in goal.”
Severn Tunnel welcome Cardiff Bluebelles to Rogiet Sportsfield this Sunday, kick-off 2pm.
