BOSS Michael Flynn admits he's got to consider changing a winning team because of high-flying Newport County AFC's hectic schedule in League Two.

The Exiles are second in the table thanks to a fine start to the campaign and backed up a 1-0 win at Tranmere with another success by a single goal at Stevenage on Tuesday.

Flynn named an unchanged side at the Lamex Stadium but may soon tinker with his line-up as the games come thick and fast.

County travel to Bradford on Saturday before a week that pits them against Colchester and Barrow at Rodney Parade.

That is followed by another Tuesday game at Carlisle with the long trip to Brunton Park followed by a tie in the first round of the FA Cup, with the opposition drawn after this weekend's action in the competition.

Flynn bolstered his squad with three loan signings on deadline day but defender Aaron Lewis, midfielder Jamie Devitt and Jamie Proctor are yet to feature.

Added to that, the likes of Kevin Ellison, Ashley Baker and Bradley Webb have been fringe figures while Scot Bennett, Robbie Willmott and Padraig Amond have been used sparingly.

"Whoever has come in has put down a marker for a place, and soon I am going to have to rotate because of the amount of games that we have coming up," said Flynn.

"They have got to stick together and be a team, not just the starting XI but the whole squad. That's why we have got more numbers, because of the amount of games in such a short space of time.

"We've got a chance now to get a few of them up to speed and it's down to them to keep their place.

"There are players that have been regulars for the past two or three seasons. We have got more players to choose from and it's down to them when they get in to stay in for a few games."

That applies to the experienced Amond up front, who has had to be content with cameos off the bench against Tranmere and Stevenage.

Saikou Janneh scored the only goal of the game against Rovers then Tristan Abrahams coolly slotted from the penalty spot against Boro.

"Tristan is confident, that's seven for the season and him and Saikou were absolute pests. They didn't give the Stevenage defence a minute's break," said Flynn. "They run and run and run – they set the tone.

"Tristan has got to aim for as many goals as he can, set the target of 10, then go to 15. He has got to set realistic targets and not get carried away, 10 has to be the next one and then 15.

"Saikou is an honest boy who works his socks off. He works so hard and is so grateful for the opportunity that he has in lie with football.

"He comes in every day with a smile on his face and the boys love him. I am very pleased with him."
