Michael Flynn: Newport can't be wasteful against Morecambe

Manager Flynn frequently complained about the lack of a killer streak even when the Exiles were setting the pace in League Two.

Wastefulness led to their winter slump and after their rallied to make the play-offs, they nearly paid the price for fluffing their lines against Forest Green Rovers.

They bossed the first leg of the play-off semi-final and should have killed off the tie, only to instead head to Gloucestershire with a 2-0 lead that was wiped out inside nine minutes.

County edged a thriller and now have a shot at glory against a Morecambe side who have upset the odds all season and head to Wembley in terrific form.

The Shrimps won five of their last six in the run-in when edged out by Bolton for the final automatic promotion spot, won at Tranmere in the semi-final first leg and then drew at home to win the tie.

Derek Adams' side have been content to let their opposition have the ball and are potent on the break, with Carlos Mendes Gomes among those destined for a higher level regardless of Monday's result.

"They are an exceptionally well-disciplined team who are very dangerous on the counter-attack with players who can change games," said Flynn.

"It will be an interesting game, let's hope that we take advantage if they do sit off and we manage to get in the right areas.

"If we don't then I am sure they will when they get an opportunity at the other end, because that is what they have done all season. They are a very dangerous team."

"You have to be careful of players and we have done our analysis, game preparation and training methodology.

"We have highlighted their strengths and weaknesses, how we can exploit them and protect ourselves.

"We've worked on that and are well prepared, it's just whether we carry the instructions through."
